What to watch this weekend
Dear friends,
From next week, these letters will be mostly written by our new lead curator, Renee Cuisia. Renee joined our team this week after many months of contributing her reviews. You can find her curation on agoodmovietowatch.com here.
I interact with a lot of writers but there was always something special about Renee’s writing. Her passion for film, her writing style - earnest but meticulous and insightful - always stood out to me. I’m so happy to have her onboard and wish her the best of luck.
I will be around to fill up for Renee whenever needed, but I have faith that you will be in very capable hands, and that this newsletter will only improve under her penmanship.
And I hope you’re well and safe. The world is a scary place right now - at some point, it feels weird to even write about or watch movies. But what else to do.
Much love to you all.
OUR TOP TV SHOW OF THE WEEK

The first installment is now on Netflix 🍅 rating: 89%
This sci-fi thriller based on a podcast by the same name is about Dan, a video archivist who takes a job to restore a set of burned Hi8 videotapes. When he starts seeing the footage, he discovers that it is from a woman trying to document a cult.
The events take place in the building that had the tapes and which was burned, leaving many victims dead. As Dan tries to understand what happened, he uncovers details about the woman filming and something that links even his own family to the fire.
The show is at times more of an unsettling horror than a supernatural thriller, but it features a great performance from Mamoudou Athie, who plays Dan.
