Dear friends,
My mom heard today’s recommendation in a program on Moroccan radio and we watched it together. This one is from her to you.
Have a lovely weekend.
OUR TOP TV SHOW OF THE WEEK
Squid Game
On Netflix everywhere 🍅 rating: 100%
This new South-Korean thriller series starts with Gi-Hun, a middle-aged man who lives with his mom, trying to hustle her into giving him money. She does give him more, but that doesn’t stop him from stealing her credit card when she leaves.
Gi-Hun is in fact deeply in debt and deeply addicted to gambling. A man he meets at a subway station easily lures him into joining an unspecified game, where the earnings are supposed to be huge. When he does join in, the rules of the game are unlike anything he (or anyone) could imagine.
OUR TOP MOVIE OF THE WEEK
Clairevoyant
New on Amazon Prime 🍅 rating: 93 %
A pseudo-free-spirited girl called Claire is the center of this mockumentary about the obsession with finding enlightenment. When Claire meets a girl wearing a hijab she asks her “tell me everything I need to know about Buddhism.”
The journey to enlightenment is strenuous when you’re a white girl living in L.A. Luckily, Claire is not too shy to seek help. “I just personally don’t find shame to be a useful emotion, so I just block it out,” she says.
It’s a half funny half cringe mockumentary about the ridiculousness in which many young people of this generation (and of many previous generations) try to lead their lives.

This new documentary is about an activist who starts a history-altering revolution in Armenia by the simple act of walking from his town to the capital. “I wanted to create a situation where it's not the police knocking on the citizen's door but the citizen knocking on the doors of power.” he says.
