The format of our beloved newsletter is getting a complete makeover.
Introducing: The Watch
The newsletter will now be called The Watch. We will have the great pleasure of sharing this name with the horrendous Ben Stiller movie from 2012.
A new “New and Expiring” email on Wednesday
Starting tomorrow, instead of “the mid-week pick”, you’ll be getting a longer, more detailed “New and Expiring” email.
The “New and Expiring” section was the favorite of many in the Friday newsletter, and it will now be getting its own dedicated letter.
A new structure to the Friday email
The Friday email will also be changing. Instead of “Readers’ Picks”, a new section titled “Picks from Elsewhere” will include recommendations for streams that can be accessed beyond Netflix and Amazon Prime.
The newsflash will only be limited to one or two issues a month.
These changes will shorten the Friday email and will hopefully make it easier to digest. All of this while increasing the number of overall recommendations in a week.
Paid users will still get two emails a week
Subscribers who make this work possible will get the “New and Expiring” newsletter every Wednesday and the shorter-but-richer email every Friday.
To allow our free subscribers to get to know this structure better, we’ll be offering a free trial during the month of November. If you’re a free subscriber, you don’t have to do anything for this to take effect.
After November, paid users will continue getting all emails while free users will occasionally get Friday emails.

We’ve been thinking and discussing these changes for a long time, but they’re not set in stone.
