Dear friends,
Today’s pick is a mix between a late-night rerun of a sensationalized documentary, and an actually insightful one. As its narrator says in the beginning “there is so much bad news about our planet, it’s overwhelming”.
This kind of familiar storytelling might be the only way forward to reaching many of us who are numbing to these problems.
Kiss the Ground
New today on Netflix.
Woody Harrleson narrates this new documentary about efforts to regenerate soil as a way to fight climate change. If the soil is healthy, then the food we eat is healthy, the plants are healthy, and the climate stands a chance.
Many of these efforts are led by the NRCS, a government agency started by Roosevelt after he witnessed the Dust Bowl — the biggest human-made natural disaster in the history of the U.S caused by bad farming methods.
P.S. Woody Harrleson might just be the new David Attenborough.

Our Planet on Netflix is with the real Attenborough and is about the ways in which climate change is harming diversity on earth. Expect the usual gorgeous cinematography and Attenborough’s soothing voice.
Samsara on Amazon Prime is a silent but mesmerizing documentary about the diversity and wonder of human life on earth.
Talk on Friday,
Bilal
