I love underdog stories. I can’t help but see them as the junk food of cinema: delicious, salty, and too easy to consume. They’re everywhere and rarely offer a healthy or new experience. Rocky, Remember the Titans and even Kung Fu Panda serve up grand stories of success - and ‘grand’ always did well with mainstream audiences.
