Dear friends,
Good TV is so addictive, as I’m sure anyone watching the new season of The Crown knows. Here’s that and six other notable movements this week.
On Netflix
What’s new
The fourth season of The Crown has been added to Netflix. This installment is being hailed as one of the best yet, despite criticisms about lack of historical accuracy.
The drama Loving was also added to Netflix this week. It stars Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga as an interracial couple who get arrested during the American civil rights movement. Based on a true story, the couple’s struggle led to the historic 1967 Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia.
What’s expiring
The Lincoln Lawyer, an easy legal thriller with Matthew McConaughey, leaves Netflix next Thursday, November 26th.
For filmmaking fans, the documentary De Palma about the Scarface director leaves Netflix this Friday, November 20th. It was co-directed by Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story) and features footage of Al Pacino, Sean Connery, John Travolta, and other big-name collaborators of the director.
On Amazon Prime
What’s new
All nine seasons of Scrubs have been added to Amazon Prime this week.
An acclaimed eight-episode docuseries called The Challenge: ETA is now on Amazon Prime. It’s about the fight between the Basque separatist group ETA and the Spanish authorities.
What’s expiring
A 2004 British drama called Dead Man’s Shoes leaves Amazon Prime this Monday, November 20th. It’s about a man who returns to his small town after years in the army to find his brother was the abuse victim of a local drug gang. Directed by Shane Meadows.
That’s it for the third week of November. I hope this summary was helpful.
