Dear friends,
If you missed yesterday’s e-mail, we’ve made some exciting new changes. We renamed the newsletter The Watch, replaced the Wednesday “Mid-week Pick” with this e-mail, and revised some sections in our Friday e-mail.
We’ve got more suggestions, more streaming services, and I’ve decided to use my full name. All in.
Recommendations for what’s new this week
NETFLIX
A Clockwork Orange, Boyz n the Hood, Chappelle’s Show, and Ocean’s Eleven are new on Netflix.
Guillermo Villas: Settling the Score is a gorgeous new documentary in Spanish and English about the Argentinian tennis legend who was denied the number one spot in the world ranking. One journalist takes it upon himself to prove that injustice in an almost obsessive quest. That’s also on Netflix.
AMAZON PRIME
28 Days Later, Dead Poets Society, Platoon, and the 1987 crime drama Wall Street are new on Amazon Prime.
Thank You for Smoking is a sharp satire about a cigarette lobbyist played by Aaron Eckhart. It’s also new on Amazon Prime.
Recommendations for what’s expiring this week
NETFLIX
Krisha, the excellent A24 drama from 2015, leaves Netflix this Friday, November 6th.
Bathtubs Over Broadway is a fun documentary about comedian Steve Young’s hunt for rare and weird music leaves Netflix this Sunday, November 8th.
Green Room, another A24 classic and a great horror-thriller, leaves Netflix next Wednesday, November 11th.
AMAZON PRIME
Flesh And Bone is a fantastic but little-known drama miniseries about a new ballerina that joins the American Ballet Company. It leaves Amazon Prime this Sunday, November 8th.
Bronson, Tom Hardy’s take on Britain’s most violent criminal, leaves Amazon Prime the next day, Monday, November 9th. Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.
Talk on Friday,
